Earlier this year, we showed you how to install, configure, and use VMware Fusion for Mac version 8.0. VMware Fusion is a virtual machine utility for MacOS, which lets you run Windows and alternative operating systems such as Linux and MacOS itself on the Mac. It’s more convenient to use than Apple’s Boot Camp utility; if you only need to run the occasional Windows application. The latest version, which is a free upgrade for existing Fusion 8.0 users; includes optimizations for the recently released Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

VMware Fusion 8.5 is also optimized for the recently release MacOS Sierra, version 10.12. Features include support for Tabs and Siri. Users running VMware Fusion 8.1.1, can get the upgrade to Fusion 8.5 for free. If you are running an earlier version, you can take advantage of the upgrade pricing.
Head on over to the VMware Fusion 8.5 download page, click the download that corresponds with your currently installed edition. You can find this out by launching VMware Fusion, click the VMware Fusion menu then click About VMware Fusion.

That’s it, you should now be running the latest version.
After logging into a Windows 10 virtual machine, the VMware Tools will automatically update itself then prompt for a restart.
We recently looked at a number of ways you can create and utilize virtual machines for running older software. As Microsoft continues to refine Windows 10, newer versions will break apps that worked on older releases. Azure, Microsoft’s Cloud platform is another popular way to create and host virtual machines. If you still need the raw power of the local hardware, dual booting still has its benefits. Are you using virtual machine utilities, if so, what are some of the scenarios?
Continuing The Journey Fusion 11.5 continues the journey we began over 11 years ago. This year we’ve added support for the latest Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems, a whole new look and feel with Dark Mode, improved performance and reliability, added new networking functions, patched critical security issues, and added more compatibility with vSphere. Dark Mode Support Fusion has a whole new look when using macOS in Dark Mode. Every bit of the Fusion interface has been updated to support this striking new UI capability. Virtual Networking: Jumbo Frames Fusion Pro gives users more control than ever over virtual networks with the ability to specify an MTU size up to 9000 per virtual network, opening the door to more powerful and ‘lifelike’ nested lab environments that can run data center networking software as complex as vSphere and NSX in virtual machines on the Mac. Ready for macOS Catalina and the latest Windows 10 Fusion 11.5 is ready to run the latest 2019 versions of Windows 10, Linux and macOS as virtual machines on macOS 10.15 Catalina Macs.
